Cobblemon Breeding Guide

Master Pokémon breeding on CobblemonGG. Learn how to breed for perfect IVs, pass egg moves, and hunt shinies through the Masuda Method.

How Cobblemon Breeding Works

Breeding in Cobblemon uses Pasture Blocks with connected hoppers to produce eggs. Place two compatible Pokémon in a pasture, and every 10 minutes there's a 50% chance of producing an egg. You can have up to 24 active Pasture Blocks per account.

The female Pokémon determines the species, has a 45% chance of passing its ability, and passes down the Pokéball type. Both parents contribute to IVs, nature, and egg moves.

IV Breeding with Power Items

Individual Values (IVs) range from 0-31 for each stat. Power Items guarantee that a specific IV is passed from the parent holding the item to the offspring:

Power WeightHP
Power BracerAttack
Power BeltDefense
Power LensSp. Attack
Power BandSp. Defense
Power AnkletSpeed

Destiny Knot Breeding

The Destiny Knot is the most important breeding item. When held by a parent, it passes 5 out of 12 total IVs from both parents (instead of the usual 3). This is essential for breeding competitive Pokémon with high IVs.

The Destiny Knot can be crafted in Cobblemon. Combine it with Power Items strategically: give one parent a Destiny Knot and the other a Power Item to guarantee a specific stat while passing 5 total IVs.

Egg Moves with Mirror Herbs

Mirror Herbs allow Pokémon to learn egg moves from other Pokémon placed in the same Pasture Block. The process takes 10-20 minutes and works regardless of egg groups. Mirror Herbs even work on Legendary Pokémon.

Both parents can pass egg moves to their offspring. To teach a Pokémon an egg move without breeding, give it a Mirror Herb and place it in a pasture with a Pokémon that knows the desired move.

Shiny Breeding & Masuda Method

The base shiny chance when breeding is 1 in 8,192. The Masuda Method dramatically improves these odds to 1 in 2,048 by breeding two Pokémon from different real-world language games.

Egg Groups

Pokémon can only breed with others in the same egg group. Many Pokémon belong to multiple egg groups, allowing moves and IVs to be passed across species. Ditto can breed with any breedable Pokémon regardless of egg group.

Understanding egg groups is essential for passing egg moves between species. For example, you can chain egg moves through intermediate Pokémon that share egg groups with both the source and target species.
