Legendary & Shiny Pokémon Guide

Everything you need to know about finding legendary and shiny Pokémon on Cobblemon.gg. Scouts, breeding, fishing, and catch combos.

How Legendary Pokémon Work on Cobblemon.gg

On Cobblemon.gg, legendary and shiny Pokémon do not spawn naturally in the wild. This makes them significantly more rare and valuable compared to standard Cobblemon gameplay. Instead, they appear through a unique system called Scouts.

Every hour, there is a percentage chance that a legendary or shiny Pokémon will spawn in the Resource World. When this happens, the exact coordinates are announced in chat, and all players race to find and catch it first. This is called a Scout event.

The Scout System Explained

Scouts are Cobblemon.gg's primary method for distributing legendary and shiny Pokémon. When a scout spawns, you use /rtp in the Resource World to randomly teleport and search for the announced Pokémon.

Scout Rules

You cannot teleport directly to scout coordinates. You must RTP and search on foot.

All homes set in the Resource World are locked for the first 5 minutes of a scout to prevent unfair advantages.

During scouts, everyone has a 30-second RTP cooldown regardless of rank.

Lying about your location during a scout (claiming to be near it or catching it) is a punishable offense.

Scout Boosters affect the entire server, not just the player who uses one.

Hunter Poké Armor

The Hunter Poké Armor set is obtained by running the Jungle dungeon approximately 60 times and purchasing from /dshop. It gives a 2% chance to RTP within 500 blocks of a scout Pokémon and grants Speed II during scout events.

Identifying Shiny Pokémon

Many new players confuse Magikarp variants and Paldean Tauros with shiny Pokémon. Real shinies are identified by a sound effect and sparkle particles around them. The sound is stronger for wild shinies found during scouts.

Shiny Breeding & the Masuda Method

Breeding is the only reliable way to obtain shiny Pokémon outside of scouts. The Masuda Method dramatically improves your shiny breeding odds by using two parent Pokémon from different in-game language trainers.

Shiny Breeding Odds

Base breeding rate1/8,192
Masuda Method1/2,048

Important: Shiny parents do not increase the odds. There is no way to tell if an egg contains a shiny until you hatch it.

Shiny Fishing

It is possible to fish for shiny Pokémon using a Poké Rod. The base shiny chance while fishing is 1 in 8,000, but using Starf Berries as bait doubles your odds to 1 in 4,000.

Without bait1/8,000
With Starf Berries1/4,000

Catch Combos for Shiny Hunting

Building a catch combo by catching the same Pokémon species repeatedly is another way to boost your shiny odds. At the maximum combo of 900 catches, you receive a +80-98 shiny boost along with 5 guaranteed perfect IVs, doubled spawns, and a 24.75% hidden ability chance.

Your catch combo saves when you log off, so you can build it over multiple sessions. Use /catchcombo to check your current combo status.
